In 2013, I took a hiatus of two and a half years from advertising to help manage my mother’s business and pursue my own letterpress business. Ahlam Denha, my mother and an Iraqi immigrant started an interpreting business 40 years ago and grew it into a multi-million-dollar business.
I was managing anywhere from 20-30 interpreters every day which made me a stronger leader. I was handling the billing and payroll which helped me better understand the finance behind a business. And I was managing our accounts and client relations, which made me more confident in sales. I was also running my letterpress business where I produced freelance work, personal work and led workshops.
All of these experiences inspired me to return to advertising as a stronger art director because not only was I a better creative, I was a better business woman.
Currently I am working for Commonwealth/McCann in Detroit as Digital Interactive Art Director.
I’m available for full time opportunities.
